Built to match the truck platform you already trust
Chevrolet and GMC share the same frames, engines, payload ranges, and bed dimensions. Which means if an Alaskan fits one, it fits the other. What you gain is the perfect pairing: a low-profile camper that stays stable on the road, improves wind resistance, keeps sway in check, and opens into a quiet, insulated cabin built for real travel. Inside, it’s all purpose-built cabinetry, smart storage, and a layout made for actual living, not just collapsing after a long drive. We’ve been refining this balance of strength, simplicity, and comfort since 1957.
Compatible Chevrolet Models
Trucks We Support...
- Silverado 1500 / Sierra 1500
- Silverado 2500HD–3500HD / Sierra 2500HD–3500HD
Solid middleweight pairing
Silverado 1500 / Sierra 1500
Stick with 6.5 or 8 foot beds. The 5’8 short bed doesn’t pair with an Alaskan. Payload varies a lot with trim: lightly-optioned regular cabs can clear 2,200+ lbs, while well-equipped 4WD crew cabs commonly drop into the 1,600–1,800 lb range. Always check the door-jamb sticker for your exact rating. If you’re close to the limit, ride-assist upgrades help stability, but they don’t increase payload.
Heavy-duty ready
Silverado 2500HD–3500HD / Sierra 2500HD–3500HD
These are the trucks most Alaskan owners gravitate toward for 8 and 10 foot models. Depending on configuration, payload can run from the low 3,000s in option-heavy crew cab diesels to 4,500+ lbs in lighter gas setups. That margin leaves room for full tanks, winter gear, e-bikes, hunting loads, or long-distance travel without beating up your suspension or handling. Properly matched, it’s a low-profile, all-season setup with the muscle for any road or weather you’re rolling into.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size camper fits my Chevy truck?
It depends on your model, bed length, and payload:
Colorado – Our 6.5′ camper can fit certain older-generation long-bed Colorados (~6′ bed). Most newer models (2023+) have shorter beds and aren’t compatible. Always confirm payload—off-road trims like the ZR2 often run lower.
Silverado 1500 – Compatible with 6.5′ or 8′ campers. The short 5’8″ bed isn’t a match. Payload varies by engine, cab, and drive, so check the door-jamb sticker before ordering.
Silverado 2500HD / 3500HD – Best suited for our 8′ and 10′ campers. With proper configuration, these trucks easily handle heavier builds, longer trips, and extra gear.
Need help figuring it out? Send us your VIN or specs, and we’ll match you with the right camper.
Do you support the Silverado EV?
Not at this time. The Silverado EV’s bed geometry and payload capacity aren’t compatible with current camper designs. GM has also stated it’s not designed for slide-in camper use.
Can I use a short bed truck?
Only if it’s a true 6.5′ bed or longer. Our campers won’t fit 5.5′ or 5.8′ beds—safe mounting and weight balance depend on that extra length.
What’s the weight of an Alaskan Camper?
Dry weight ranges from 1,550 to 2,250 lbs depending on model and options. We recommend checking your truck’s payload sticker (driver’s door jamb) to ensure proper capacity—and we’re happy to walk you through it.
Do you offer off-the-lot inventory?
Most are built to order, but we sometimes have finished units available. See our Available Inventory page or contact us for current options.
Can I tow a boat or small trailer with an Alaskan on my truck?
Yes! That’s the great thing about an Alaskan truck camper, you can tow your boat, a trailer or any of your camping toys. Whatever you normally would tow is still a possibility.
