Your Tundra. Your Gear. Your Road.
An Alaskan pairs naturally with the Tundra’s full-size frame and dependable power. Our low-profile pop-up design stays stable on the highway, then lifts into a quiet, insulated cabin when you park. No flimsy parts. No wasted space. Just a dependable setup that keeps your hitch free and your options open for towing boats, bikes, or extra gear.
Compatible Toyota Models
Trucks We Support...
- Tundra (6.5-Foot Bed)
- Tundra (8.1-Foot Long Bed)
Solid full-size pairing
Tundra (6.5-Foot Bed)
Only certain 6.5-foot bed Tundras work. Gas-engine Double Cabs and lighter CrewMax trims can land in the 1,700–1,900 lb payload range, which is the minimum margin needed for a carefully packed Alaskan. Many trims fall below that once you add 4WD, hybrid systems, or heavy options. Always check the door-jamb sticker; Toyota payload varies more than most brands. Ride-assist upgrades help stability but don’t raise payload.
Best fit for maximum margin
Tundra (8.1-Foot Long Bed)
The long-bed Double Cab is the only Tundra configuration that regularly approaches the 1,900–2,000+ lb payload range. Even then, you’re playing close to the line once the camper is loaded with water, propane, batteries, and gear. Gas trims carry more than hybrids, and 4×2 usually beats 4×4 in payload. Confirm the exact sticker rating before pairing with any Alaskan model.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Tacoma carry an Alaskan Camper?
No. Tacoma payload ratings fall well below what an Alaskan requires once you factor in the camper, water, propane, batteries, passengers, and gear. We only recommend Tundra models.
Which Tundra trim is the best match for an Alaskan?
Gas-engine Double Cabs usually offer the strongest combination of payload and bed length. Hybrids are capable trucks, but their added battery weight often reduces payload by 200–300 lbs.
What’s the weight of an Alaskan Camper?
Dry weight ranges from 1,550 to 2,250 lbs depending on model and options. Always verify your truck’s payload capacity from the driver’s door-jamb sticker.
Do I need suspension upgrades?
Not always. HD models can handle our campers with ease. Half-tons or mid-size trucks near their payload limit may benefit from airbags or other ride-assist systems for added stability—but these won’t change your official payload rating.
Do you offer off-the-lot inventory?
Most Alaskans are built to order, but we sometimes have finished units available. Check our Available Inventory page or call us for current options.
Where are Alaskan Campers made?
Every Alaskan Camper is built in Winlock, Washington, by a team that’s been refining the design since 1957.
Can I tow a boat or small trailer with an Alaskan on my truck?
Yes! That’s the great thing about an Alaskan truck camper, you can tow your boat, a trailer or any of your camping toys. Whatever you normally would tow is still a possibility.
