Smarter Travel, Built Into Your Ford
Travel smarter—lower, stronger, and built to last. An Alaskan isn’t an add-on; it’s part of your truck. The low profile keeps handling stable, cuts sway, and helps with fuel efficiency. Park, pop the roof, and you’ve got solid walls, real windows, and a quiet, weather-tight space. Inside, every inch works—real cabinetry, efficient storage, and a layout built for living, not just sleeping. Since 1957, we’ve refined this design for drivers who want durability without bulk, simplicity without compromise, and the confidence to go anywhere a Ford can take them.
Compatible Ford Models
Trucks We Support...
- F-150
- F-250 / F-350 Super Duty
Bed and Payload Limits
F-150
Works with 6.5′ and 8′ beds; the 5.5′ short bed is too short for safe mounting and proper weight distribution. Payload varies widely—from over 3,000 lbs on certain XL regular cab, 2WD long-bed trims to as low as 1,500–1,800 lbs on well-equipped 4WD crew cabs. Higher trims and off-road packages (FX4, Tremor, Raptor) generally reduce payload. Always confirm the yellow payload sticker on your driver’s door jamb. Airbags or upgraded springs can improve stability when near capacity but will not increase the official payload rating.

Heavy-Duty Ready
F-250 / F-350 Super Duty
These trucks are a natural fit for our 8′ and 10′ models. Payload depends on engine, cab style, and drivetrain, but plenty of trims fall in the 4,000–4,500 lb range—more than enough for the camper, passengers, water, fuel, and gear for longer trips. Go with a diesel or a higher trim like Lariat, King Ranch, or Platinum, and you’ll usually lose a few hundred pounds of payload, so it’s worth checking your own numbers. F-250s and F-350s have been out on the road with Alaskan Campers for decades, and they’ve proven themselves in every season, on pavement and well beyond it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a short-bed Ford?
Only if it’s at least 6.5′ long. Anything shorter won’t give the support or balance you need.
What’s the weight of an Alaskan Camper?
Depending on model and options, dry weight runs 1,550–2,250 lbs. We’ll help you match the right camper to your truck’s payload rating before you order.
Do you have off-the-lot inventory?
Most builds are made to order, but we occasionally have completed campers ready for immediate delivery. Check our Available Inventory page or call us for current stock.
Can an F-150 carry an Alaskan Camper?
Yes—if you have the correct bed length and enough payload capacity. Many 6.5′ and 8′ bed F-150s can carry a properly matched model, but always confirm your payload sticker.
Will a diesel Super Duty affect payload?
Yes. Diesel engines add weight to the truck, reducing payload by several hundred pounds compared to gas models. This is normal—just choose a camper and gear load that fits your rating.
Can I tow a boat or small trailer with an Alaskan on my truck?
Yes! That’s the great thing about an Alaskan truck camper, you can tow your boat, a trailer or any of your camping toys. Whatever you normally would tow is still a possibility.
