Announcing THE:

Alaskan HS 640

Since 1957, owning a hard-sided Alaskan meant stepping up to a heavier-duty truck and a higher-payload setup.

The HS 640 changes that. Built on a new platform, it’s designed to:

  • Reduce weight through a ground-up redesign
  • Fit a wider range of trucks, allowing the tailgate to close on many standard 6.5-foot beds across Toyota, Ford, Ram, and Chevy models
  • Lower the barrier to entry without compromising Alaskan build quality or durability
  • Built with lightweight and fire resistant structural composite panels (R-11 walls) and our patented AL+PVC hybrid frame

Constructed with 99% non-organic materials, the HS 640 is built for long-term durability while reflecting a return to Alaskan’s roots as an innovative company, bringing that legacy forward with a more modern approach to materials, structure, and efficiency.

The most accessible Alaskan we’ve ever built, designed to fit more trucks and reach more people.

Why a Lighter Build Matters

Fits More Trucks

The lighter build fits a wider range of trucks, including many half-ton pickups, without requiring a heavier-duty vehicle upgrade.

More Efficient to Live In

Improved insulation and reduced thermal transfer help maintain stable interior conditions, using less energy to heat or cool the space.

Less Strain on Your Truck

Reduced weight puts less strain on your truck, improving drivability and making the camper easier to manage across different conditions.

Lower Barrier to Entry

With fewer vehicle limitations, it’s easier to get started in truck camping and explore more places with the truck you already own.

Engineered to Be Lighter. Built to Stay an Alaskan.

A ground-up redesign that reduces weight through smarter construction and materials, while maintaining the durability and performance Alaskan is known for.

Material Efficiency

Composite Wall System

To reduce weight in the HS 640, we developed a new wall system using 1.5-inch structural insulated panels with high-density PIR foam and fiberglass skins to create a rigid, rot-proof wall with R-11 thermal performance in the camper shell.

This allows us to maintain the durability and performance Alaskan is known for, while using material more efficiently throughout the structure.

  • High-strength composite construction
  • Rot-resistant, sealed panel design
  • Reduced material where it isn’t needed
Reduced Heat Transfer

Thermal Break Frame

Traditional aluminum framing transfers outside temperatures directly into the camper, adding both thermal inefficiency and unnecessary load.

The HS 640 uses a patent-pending aluminum and PVC thermal break hybrid frame that interrupts this transfer while using material more efficiently.

  • Reduced thermal bridging at key structural points
  • Less condensation at corners and joints
  • Improved interior temperature stability
No Unnecessary Weight

Ground-Up Design

The HS 640 wasn’t adapted from an existing model. It was developed as a new platform, designed from the start to reduce weight while maintaining the durability and performance Alaskan is known for.

By integrating new materials, structural panels, and a thermal break frame from the outset, the entire system works more efficiently as a complete build.

  • Reduced excess mass across the structure
  • Balanced strength and weight throughout the camper
  • Designed for broader compatibility across more trucks
  • Composite Wall System
